State Member Benefits
When you join the Home Builders Association of Virginia, you get a triple return on your investments by becoming a member of your state, local, and national associations. Here are a few of the HBAV member benefits:
Membership provides you with the power to have your voice heard. Since 1956, HBAV has served as THE VOICE of the industry to affect positive change in order to nurture a healthy housing industry. Based on the foundation of “housing for all Virginians”, HBAV works with its members to develop solutions to address over-regulation, labor shortages, land availability, and the future of affordable housing choices. HBAV is the only trade association with a full-time legislative and regulatory lobbying staff who reviews every piece of legislation considered by the Virginia General Assembly to identify impacts on our members. HBAV’s regulatory team works closely with regulatory agencies such as the Department of Housing and Community Development and the Department of Environmental Quality and actively participate in the adoption process of the uniform statewide building code.
HBAV also manages the HBAV BuildPAC. HBAV BuildPAC allows members from across Virginia to combine their resources to support pro-housing, pro-business candidates running for office in Virginia.
To learn how to get involved with the HBAV Legislative Committee or the HBAV BuildPAC, contact HBAV’s Vice President of Government Affairs, Andrew Clark.
HBAV regularly communicated the latest industry news and information to its members, keeping them ahead of the curve. Each month, HBAV electronically distributes the Virginia E-Builder to communicate association news and industry information. The Virginia E-Builder encompasses Virginia legislative and regulatory updates, upcoming HBAV dates and deadlines, tools and tips to improve your business, and information on opportunities to connect with housing industry leaders from across the state.
HBAV also communicated with members on pressing issues through “Call to Action” alerts. From time to time, it’s important for lawmakers to hear directly from our members. HBAV will identify the pressing issues at hand and send a “Call to Action” asking members to contact their elected official in order to affect positive change.
HBAV and NAHB host numerous webinars and teleconferences on the latest industry related topics. These opportunities allow HBAV members the ability to stay ahead of the competition in the convenience of their work environment.
